Woodblock/Linocut
2 DAYS
Woodblock relief is the oldest form of printmaking originating back to ancient Japan. Linocut is a more modern material. Areas of the block are designed by carving out material. The raised areas are then inked and printed for high contast results. Multiple printings (an edition) can be produced in this way.
Collagraph
2 DAYS
Assemble various manufactured and organic materials on plywood or cardboard base. Layers can be built up to to form a relief base that is then rolled with ink and printed! A surprising and unique process.
Monotype
1 DAY
Monotype is a single print created by transferring a painted image from a Plexiglass plate to paper. This singular, original print can be pulled by hand or by running the plate through the press. Monotype is an intuitive and painterly printmaking process!
Drypoint Etching
Using a stylus, the artist scratches out an incised line into a metal or Plexiglass plate. Fine-line, textured images, and tones can be produced through this method. If you enjoy drawing this is a wonderful process to learn and adapt for your own expression.
